DIRECTOR´S NOTES
SoMA is a film about the human brain and body. It is a trip through memory and anxiety. I used this film as a vessel to ask a lot of questions after researching the progression of technology and the ways in which we interact with things we consider to be made of tech. I wanted to look at what we become without electrical impulses, what our mind becomes when it is removed from our memories, senses and experiences. When does our identity find itself and how does technology affect this perception of who we are? The film takes the viewer through an electroencephalogram (EEG) medical test in which the electrical activity of the brain is measured. The film is centered around the three stages of the test and builds everything upon that.
